Looks like the problem you're having is on the network card of each
computer. Make sure you use all 100mbps full-duplex NICs. You can find
out the speed and duplex mode of each NIC by doing this on your cat29xx
switch:
sh int fastethernet0/1

If you are using fast Ethernet cards on those five PCs, your effective
network bandwidth when you connect the PCs to the 2900 switch, should be
100MBps, otherwise 10MBps if you're using ordinary Ethernet cards.
