I recently upgraded and erased the startup config on a couple of
asr1001-x routers that are being repurposed. Standard procedure, though
this is the first time I have used the 1001-x specifically.
Upon reboot I was expecting a "Router>" prompt, but instead I'm
presented with a

linecards are now well past end of sale, and in fact are past End of
Vulnerability/Security Support as well, so maybe it's a moot point anyway. For
10GBASE-T in the 2nd gen I'd suggest the X9788TC-FX linecard and FM-E2 fabric
module, these should behave properly with the config I posted earlier.
suspect you are using some other platform eg n5k
or n7k? I may be able to try it out here depending on what you're using.

eXR makes this so much easier.
Other than the pain of 6.3.2 -> 6.3.3 (where RPM moved to code signing) pretty
much none of that is necessary.
But yeah, 3* lines should get you from any version > 6.3.3 to any other
version. ([conf t, fpd auto-upgrade enable, commit, end,] copy url:///file
process and export and reduce the statistical validity
of the sample.
Using mgmt0 should be fine for sflow export.

This is expected, all nexus in 7.x will have a 'default VDC' config
section. Only n7k allows you to configure additional VDCs. There
shouldn't be much if any config modification required in the VDC config.

Not sure about access. That link was posted on the Cisco Learning
Network ages ago when I was still studying for the SPCORE and SPEDGE
tests, and that's what I've always used for images. IIRC I just used my
basic (no entitlements) login to access the files.

Hi Folks,
I'm looking for recommendations for the best (least buggy) IOS for the
3800x. If anyone wants to share their opinion, or well-known gotchas,
I'd appreciate it. For now, all we really need is basic L2/L3 MPLS,
OSPF, and usual L2 features. Nothing fancy.

reasons for buffers on a unit like this is the speed
disparity between 10ge and 1ge ports, unless you're planning to do a lot
of shaping (rather than policing) - is this correct?

Yes, which I was stunned by as well - sub $10k for the asr, and $30k+
for the 3800, though that quote was several months old. I take it that
I should probably verify what I was quoted wasn't just a PSU or something...
