In the beginning of the treatment ( first year) my son had many side effects
but now he is fine and doing well. I guess the body needs at least a year to
be used to that.
Keep going 'cause everything is going to be all right.

Hi Jody and yes I had to do this when I first started Gleevec.
Your blood will go up and down for a while, but then mine finally got into
line.
Gleevec quit working for me after 5 years and i was put on Tasigna.
I had the same thing happen with my blood again and had to have 2
transfusions.

I had those skin ulcers on Gleevec.
They would start out looking like a small blister and then grow to the size
of a boil. They sure were painful. Then one day, they went away.

after 6 years on Gleevec my mother is still PCU, we are happy about that, but
she has been having lots of problem with her stomach, 2 days ago she went to
hospital because a
gastroenteritis, now she is at home but hasn´t taken gleevec for 3 days, she
wants to start it again tomorrow.

Has your mother been making sure she is eating a large meal with her Gleevec
and drinking a large glass of water with it? This is very important. Her
Doctor might take her off until her tummy gets well.
What does her onc say?
