Tina,
You wondered what the cost of Tasigna is. I have been on it for almost
three years. Last time I checked I think it was approximately $27,800 for
three months worth. I am VERY thankful for insurance that pays for all this!
(it is probably even more by now).

Hi Peg,
I was on Gleevec for 4 1/2 yrs. and switched to Tasigna in June of 2008.
I've been on T. ever since. I had an EKG before starting Tasigna, then had
several EKG's in the early months. Since I had no QT problems, I am now
down to one EKG a year. I started Tasigna at 400 mg. per d
Hi Judi,
The idea to switch drugs came from my dr. I was hesitant and afraid at
first, but due to the pleural effusions and ascites, I was talked into it.
I'm so happy I did!
Good luck,

I was on Gleevec for 4 1/2 yrs. I was tired, retaining fluid (pleural

the "bathroom issues". That was the worst. If I felt like I had to go, I

Wow, I didn't realize Tasigna could cause diabetes! I've been on it for
two years and so far so good. Three months ago my checkup showed high

I had the same problem. Now, I've been on Tasigna for two years and have
no more swelling. When I look at pictures of myself taken while on
Gleevec, I immediately notice the swollen eyes. At the time, I didn't realize
how noticeable it was, but now that it's gone, I do. I used to put cl

Thanks for the information. I still don't understand, however. Are we
more at risk than the general population because a live virus is used? If
our counts are good I don't understand why we are more at risk.

I was thinking about asking for the shingles shot. Millie, did your dr.
say why you couldn't have it? I'm on Tasigna also.

Thanks for your replies. I don't understand a thing about the donut hole,

I'm glad the bill passed. I was worried about the lifetime cap that my

I don't understand everything about the bill, however. I am too young

I just heard the news that Kareem Abdul Jabbar has cml. I'm always sorry
to hear that one more person has been diagnosed, however, I thought maybe
it was good that he brought awareness to the symptoms/disease by speaking out
publicly. Now, after researching on the internet, I have read that

Hi Millie,
It looks like we've been on Tasigna for about the same amount of time. I
recently had a pcr test and it came back undetectable! I'm on 800 mg. and I
feel pretty good. Where is your dr. located? Mine is at MSKCC in NYC.
Good luck to you on Tasigna!

Hi Jeanie,
I'm glad to hear you got through the transfusion ok. I'm sure you will feel
better because of it. Good luck with all your other tests including the ct

I read an earlier post of yours and realized that we were diagnosed at the

Jeannie,
I understand your feeling about the transfusion. I never wanted one either,
but two years ago I needed it for the same reason as you. (I was on Gleevec
