Internet wisdom says that if you don't mind removing the shaft, a hack saw

It looks like the Garmin has 0183 output...so connecting to the autopilot
is pretty simple. The black wire on the Garmin wiring harness is ground,
the blue wire is data out. If you hook those in to the Seatalk bus
(ground-ground, blue data out to 0183 data in) you should be connected

1) Tri-Data
2) VMG

I have a depth / temp transducer
I have a wind pulpit transducer for the speed-Trim never been out of the box
I have a appernt and true wind masthead transducer.
Hey Jim,
They the instruments from the vintage bunch I have look like they all seek
NMEA 0183 and not so much 2000?

They have a thru hull plastic or bronze. they have a in-hull puck and a
transom mounted one. I will not be using it for fishing just for anchoring.

Best would be the thru-hull, your choice of material. Forget the

Yup, they are all 0183 instruments. Too old for NMEA 2K. You would need a
SeaTalk to NMEA 0183 adaptor. Raymarine sells one, or you can use something
like a Brookhouse multiplexer and feed data all over the place.

Cleaned and painted, they made a great foundation for self-adhesive

More light and much less current draw, plus eliminated the problem (and

I've done this job twice. Drop the rudder, pull the shaft (leave the prop
