Rather than give a thumbs up or down on the merits of sailing a C&C 110 across
the Pacific I’ll point you to a voyage that good friends of ours did a year
ago on a “similar” sized and style boat, a 40’ J/120.

I've been watching this forum for a while - I have an issue that I need

I would like to take my C&C 110 (1999- hull number 8) to Australia via
Tahiti. My C&C has been set up for coastal sailing and I now sail in the
Great Lakes. Is this boat seaworthy to do a transpacific sail? I'
Just a quick observation. Those of us here on the Hudson have pretty much
abandoned 2 stroke motors from environmental concerns.

You mean “water locked” or “hydro Locked” (it does not have to be water)?
You won’t be able to turn it. Neither with the starter (I suggest you don’t
try), nor with a wrench. It won’t budge (or nearly won’t).
Open the cylinders (either remove the glow plugs (usually easier and if you
have them)

If you have a catastrophic failure good batteries and luck (attentive
neighbors?) will save her on the mooring. If you have bilge pump counter on
an automatic telling you the pattern of pumps per time period left unattended,
you may see a problem before it gets out of hand.

Auto pumps are wired to the battery, so they are always live.
It will not save a boat with a catastrophic failure, but it will keep the
bilge dry from the stuffing box and water coming down the mast, especially

Mine is also a Rule (I think the capacity is around 650gpm) with electronic
switch, redundant with another of the same in the shallow sump under the
steps. They are both automatic or on with switch at nav table. Everything
ultimately drains into the deep sump on my boat as well using (just learne

about when checking for water, the pump motor doesn't run, it only powers a
sensor. It also has a test button. I like the small size with relatively large
capacity. Float systems have disadvantages, they can fail too
