I have the switch close to the pump so I can hear what's going on. Last
pump made all sorts of strange noises just before it defenestrated itself.
I also carry a brand new pump because I have been burned before and it's
not fun at the best of times.

Victoria,
Dave, I wrote in a previous post that I had replaced my AS 25 with 40. My
mistake, i was talking about the led 33 series. Different look, but smaller and
not too flashy. Quality seems good.
I can tell you that the victory looks cheap, are big and boxy looking and feel.
My opinion, that was the

Thanks Jake. The 35iii is a very close bigger sister.OK, so you lead your

Dave,
I find the secondary winches very useful when singlehanding. They are well
within my reach. They are essential when running a spinnaker though. I got
rid of the turning blocks on the quarters. Yes, they probably helped make a
fair lead to the winch, but the extra friction was not worth i
Well, the one downside I can think of is, aplying it can be very tedious. All
those thru bolts on the hatches adding the extra bead to the top and bottom of
the flange at each bolt and having to penetrate the tape at each hole for the
bolt was painstaking and time consuming. But it beats leaks
Hello all,
We had the Lewmar #70 (I still think it is a Coastline, but could not verify it
for sure) bow hatch leaking on our 1994 37/40+. I had looked at it a couple
weeks ago, and felt pretty comfortable it wasn't leaking between the hatch and
the deck, and started assuming it was being cause
I did the same thing with a Newport 28 that I owned. Except I use wood
battens to span the gap between the settees, , the thin plywood fit under
the settee cushions, and a king size air mattress turned athwart ship for

I put a waterproof switch at the helm near the control panel - advantage is
being in a spot where it is easy to pump while underway - which is a
requirement in our waters. It is momentary type too - avoids accidently
leaving it running. Also makes it easy to see the pump is operating, when

I though you guys might enjoy this bit of creative bunk solution!
Our prior boat was a 72 35 MK 1. We had a great deal of trouble
sleeping in the V berth but didn't want to sleep in separate
bunks. So, we created a way to turn the main salon into one king sized bunk.
Just a few 1/3" stainle
The only trouble with Butyl tape is that it seals better, lasts longer, is
easier to remove, easier to clean up and cheaper. Other than that it is
OK. 😀

+1 on the Tuffted topper. We have one for the V-berth but are now
spending more nights in the main because there is more space and that is
where the TV is (I know, rough life). We do have a matress pad to add to
the new cushions for the main.

Yes, Butyl is ( in many people's) opinion still the best. What you are
probably seeing is that even after decades, butyl sealer still remains pliable.
Bed-It really seems to be the best, having used RV and black windshield butyl
tapes.

If you don't want to go to the trouble that Joe did, but don't like
sleeping on the crack in the V-berth, try a Tufted Topper Pillow-Top Pad.

as it was when I bought it.

I currently have a maceration pump that has a momentary switch located next to
it under the sink. I believe this was installed by the previous owner. I would
like some opinions on the best place to install the new switch. Is it common to

I currently have the hood (if that's the correct term) removed from my sliding

Joe,
I did the same thing with an mattress from Ikea. I cut it down and
actually resewed the cover to fit the new wedge shape so that can be removed
and cleaned. The loss of head space is definitely worth the extra comfort.
Just a hint to help move it. Put it in a thick plastic bag and
I had finally had enough of the 1980 era fabric on 1973 era foam v-berth

outline of the cushions, and started cutting.
So far so good ☺

I agree with Mike and had the same issue that I repaired on my previous O'Day

I ended up ordering Sheilds heater hose from Amazon. Like Joel Said.
