Regarding the hatch latch issue, I too, was not happy with those drop hasps, and after seeing a J24 sink like a stone as a squall ran through a big charity regatta here several years ago, (the cockpit hatch lid opened in a knockdown, and water sucked into the boat through the cockpit seat). I

Not directly related, but I've figured out that the light colored interior on my 1994 C&C 37/40+ is lacquered, not varnishes.  Removing old lacquer is much easier than varnish.  50/50 mix of lacquer thinner and denatured alcohol does the trick.   Hope this helps Bruce Whitmore  Sent from my Ve
