I bought a cheapish Klein moisture meter from Amazon this morning and it
was delivered this evening for $39. What I am hearing is that 50% think
this approach is good enough to discover problems and 50% think it's
worthless. I'll let you know. The Flir approach is interesting but sounds

That's really good information Charlies, and after reading Josh's post, it

I was, however, thinking about our cockpit area which for some magical reason

Agreed, the propane lockers are not structural. Our linear drive is mounted to
a heavy shelf glassed to the hull. If someone needs photos, I can take some,
but it will be a couple weeks before I will be at the boat again.

Hi Tom
That was plan A for my linear drive, but the floor of the propane locker
on mine is super thin - a couple of layers of glass, no rigidity. Give
it a tap, I would bet yours is the same. Not designed for serious loads.

I had a closer look today using a mirror on a stick through the port in the
back of the quarter berth and it appears that it was designed to be a locker

Hello all,
In the propane locker in our 1994 C&C 37/40+, there is a wood panel that has
been painted white over varnish and is screwed down. I forget the reason, but
a couple years ago I needed to remove it, and I wanted to make sure it was well
sealed so propane fumes would not leak below.
I'd love to just be able to tell if I have some wet core in my deck. I'm
pretty sure I can find some areas I can quantify are dry, and then I'd like to
be able to scan areas I don't know and be able to see the areas that need
attention.
Not sure if the pinless meters available at the home st

propane stoves are not listed as an option on 1974 C&C 35 price list - I

You might find the money better spent on a FLiR adapter for your phone.
Much more information can be gained about all sorts of things. Electrical,

My 35-2 has a locker on each side, the starboard being just for a
second tank with no hookup. I believe they are factory original, but have

An additional comment on the replacement windows. On my 42, the original plexi

If you’re trying to figure out where you have wet core, this is not something

FYI, my 34 had only one seat locker in the rear of the cockpit -- starboard

Dennis,
I had a 1981 36 KCB and fabricated a second propane locker. The seat will be
screw fastened from below. I used appropriate diameter and length cardboard
sono tube as a template. I used glass and west system epoxy. I cut the hole
with a jig saw if memory serves and used the cut out as a

Mine is the same as Wisper as well. Check your hull to see if there is a
drain hole to match the other side and if so, voila, you probably have a
locker there too.

My guess is that the second locker locker was an option. You paid for the
labor and parts to install the lid and its drain. You might be able to
fabricate a locker but results may vary...
