We have the plug. I just don't know what condition the through-hull is in
given we've never removed it and I doubt the previous owner had done it in
the past decade as the boat had been sitting on the hard for the past 5
years prior to this summer.

I have found that the pickup is very sensitive. If the wheel has any shaft
okay, it will not work. Most often, manufacturers offer a bushing or
bearing kit to rebuild the wheel.

I have ST-60 speed that over time lost its reading. The paddle spun freely

If you hit the finish mark, you have not finished and as such you are still on

I almost never put mine in because it fouls up and quits working and cleaning

Jeff, mine is temperamental and not always accurate. Usually it’s dirt or
growth on the paddle wheel. I would check the electrical connection and don’t
be afraid to remove the wheel, it will have a check valve on it so you
shouldn’t get too much water but you will get some. There should be a plu

Hi Jeff
If you have the screw on plug for the transducer then you should pull the
transducer. Suprisingly little water comes in with the ST60 speed transducer
removed. Process is 1. Unscrew the retaining ring, 2. Pull out the transducer,
3. Screw on the plug in place of the transducer. Takes
We've got an Autohelm package on the boat we purchased in August with ST60+

paddle and it turned free during survey haulout and the instrument worked
fine for several weeks after that. Then, the speed returned to 0KTS but the

Good point. I do not believe there is any requirement to do the turn on
the course side,
only that you have to keep clear of everyone else...you would still need
to "finish" by sailing to course side
and back again. Time would indeed still be running while you have not
finished.
Bit of a night
Looking at the rules again, I agree it is a one turn penalty. I was unsure how
your time would then be recorded. The part I missed is that you would then
have to go back to the course side of the line and re-finish. I don’t see
anything about which side of the line you have to be on when you
If there was no rule like this boats would be shooting the line, getting in
irons, and drifting back into the other finishing boats and/or the pin.
