Joe,
After saying that my boat has the full keel I’ll second Richard’s comments
with the following additions:
First and most importantly, the 37’s are delightfully spritely and quick.
:-) They are a bit the performance sedan (BMW, etc.) of their era. And
comfy, too. So, what seems to have been

Many, many thanks to Rob Ball. And condolences to his family and friends. I
agree , he left any number of beautiful, worthy boats and gifted the experience
of them to us. My 37 is a voracious upwind performer so I must modify the
traditional sendoff:
Fair seas and favored winds, Rob!

Stu & JKC,
Many thanks for posting the C 37 info!
FWIW I have donated to the museum but not joined as I’m not likely to visit -
distance from the Seattle area and no remaining mid-western relatives.

Hi,
I received both plain text and html test versions. I have an older Apple phone
and Verizon w/ Google email. I live in the Seattle area. That said all have
been problematic for the last few months. ;-)

Chuck,
My 1982 C came with the older Autohelm 4000 (Raymarine) autopilot. The
unit is supposedly not that different than the latest model you are
considering. Mine is inadequate downwind even in our relatively protected
central Puget Sound waters. It is affected by more than wind speed -

Have you checked the drive pin on the motor pinion gear? I have a 4000 on my
1982 - 37 and the pins bend and/or shear fairly often. Clicking is my usual
clue.
Part of the problem seems to be
Hello John,
You might check the ZFs. My 2year old Yanmar 3YM30AE has one, albeit with an
8 degree angle. My mechanic had strongly urged me to lower the slope of the
engine beds in my 37 to promote better oil distribution and therefore engine
life. I can discuss this further if there’s
John,
Many thanks for going to the trouble of posting photos. My ‘82 37 appears to
have the identical setup. And so equally less than ideal. Is one of the
projects that I need to push beyond thought exercise. So far my mind has been
stuck in Rube-Goldbergian quicksand. One of the main issues

Hello Stu,
I am a newly participating list member. Time for me to start donating. However,
I no longer use PayPal, etc. And my electronic technology skills are marginal.
Is there an alternative way to send in a donation?
Thanks!

Thanks to all of
Richard and all, Thanks for the welcome!
This is a continuation from the “walls” and ceilings thread I made my first
post to. Seemed time I should join in and introduce myself - or more
importantly, the boat. 襤
Yes, I love my 37! Five years and still nothing comes close in my budget

Hi All,
First post here so I imagine I will have fouled up somehow ...
Hopefully I will continue to “contribute”, more meaningfully as time goes on.
The ceilings on my 1982 37 are teak battens (~ 1/4” x 2” + -ish) with beveled
edges laminated to ~3/8“ plywood. Actual dimensions are fuzzy -
