Hi all,
I did a little bit of birding at Last Chance, [intersection of hwy. 71 and hwy

following was seen although I wasn't there long.

Kountze Lake was productive this afternoon. Must have come up at

female. Great pictures. Quite a few Audubon's Warblers around the
inlet, as well as one Myrtle male. One-eyed male W. Bluebird between
lake and city hall. Lots of
CObirders,
We rounded out our storm birds this morning with a McCown's longspur

early-date record by four days. Vesper sparrows also made their first
I birded for a few hours in Lamar (Prowers) this morning before heading back to
Fort Collins. Blue sky, wind out of the west, the "weather thing" seemed over
and the birds went with it.

I too have been enjoying the storm birding phenomenon yesterday and today. Many

Folks- My dad Jim & I found a Glossy Ibis with a few dozen White-faced
Ibis about 1/4 mile upstream from the Plum Creek Nature Center parking
area at Chatfield SP. Note that this is not the Plum Creek Delta
parking area, instead the next road above it (its end is flooded by a
beaver pond.)
I birded at Chatfield for several hours on Sunday morning. Had FOS Rock Wren,
FOS House Wren(2) and FOS Yellow-rumped Warbler.
The main reason that I have posted is a followup on Ted Floyd's comments on
birding phenomena. I probably saw over 500 American Robins, and over 500 Vesper

Dear Cobirders,
Christian Nunes just called to let me know that the Vermilion

Hello
Checked a ton of water from Coors Pond to Standley Lake this morning and found
Common loon at three locations. One at Arvada Reservoir where birders are
allowed to drive in for free, one at the newer reservoir along Highway 72
between Indiana and Highway 93, and one in the northwest corn
Aw...surely you are not receiving flack for a mistake! Everybody makes
mistakes...even experienced and reliable birders. I bet every single person
who chased 'your bird' has made a similar misidentification.
It's unfortunate; but shame on anybody who pokes fun at, humiliates or
chastises
CObirders,
To all of you who chased this bird, I apologize if it was a wet
bluebird. it was sitting apart from the bluebirds in the field and to
the west of me on the fence and even seemed to be sitting up
straighter. I must admit that the images on Nick Komar's website look
like the bird.

We just had a McCown's Longspur flyover twice and we finally got to
see him in our driveway. We had both McCown's and Chestnut-collared

Hello, Birders.
I've enjoyed all the reports thus far of the many birds put down in the recent
storm. Especially the reports of very high numbers of common spring migrants.
To paraphrase something that Chris Wood recently said to me, "Rarities are
okay, but phenomena are especially cool."
Hello, Birders.
Hannah and I poked went birding in the rain yesterday, Saturday, April 18th.
Here's what we found:
Boulder Reservoir, Boulder County. 2 Peregrine Falcons and 2 male Great-tailed
Grackles. Also 225+ Redheads, 900+ American Coots, 1 Turkey Vulture, 4 Ospreys,
