I obviously missed Dave Leatherman at Last Chance. I did not get out there till
latter in the day.

As I noted in my earlier post, one of the sparrows in the group of
Rufous-crowned Sparrows was quite dull and with indistinct markings. It
showed a reduced amount of rufous/rusty coloration on it's crown (but with a
definite black outline next to the rufous/rusty), grayish/brownish

Yesterday morning I went to the Tunnel Drive area in far western Canon City
to see Rich Miller's Golden-crowned Sparrow. I found it after about a
minute. It was down the administrative gravel road that can be walked past
the barrier. It was in the big thicket of shrubs near where the rocks meet
I tried for photos of the Red-shouldered Hawk at the Lamar Community College
Woods (Lamar, Prowers County) first thing this morning. The bird was not along
the powerline at the very north end of the woods as it was two separate times.
I walked the entire north end and think I flushed the bird

White-throated Sparrow on the grounds of the Sunflower School in South Boulder.

I had no troubles re-finding Rich Miller's male Black-throated Blue Warbler at
Veteran's Park in Canon City this afternoon. It took me like 30 seconds to
find it, after getting out of the car, and it was the second bird I looked at.
The bird was almost always moving around, though was easy to
An immature white phase Snow Goose was at Denny Lake, Cortez,
Montezuma County this afternoon (10/23/09). Except for a big flock of
American Wigeons at Industrial Pond, there aren't a lot of migrant
ducks in this area yet.

park. Veterans Park is on US 50 at the west end of town.

The following link has photos of the Yellow-throated Warbler and Northern
Parula seen at Lake Estes this morning. The warbler photos are not very good
poses, but good enough for ID purposes. I have to give credit to Connie Kogler
and Nick Komar for the parula ID. I wasn't sure what I was seeing
I refound the Yellow-throated Warbler and Common Yellowthroat at
8:30 this morning. Connie Kogler spotted it twice before I left about
9:00. The Yt Warbler was feeding high in ponderosa pines in the end
50 yards of Pine Point. I'll post a photo later today.
