I just uploaded recent images to my website of wild turkeys. They were
photographed in Colorado Springs in Glen Eyrie. Thank you in advance for
your visit to my website and the feedback you offer.

Late this afternoon, I went over to Cherry Creek and easily found the Neotropic
Cormorant. At the Prairie Loop Mudflats there was a Dunlin, Least Sandpiper
(2), Greater Yellowlegs (5), Lesser Yellowlegs (1), American Avocets (8) and a
couple of Killdeer. The Dunlin was hanging out with the Leas
FOS Osprey and Black Crowned Night Heron seen in the park today while
running. The osprey was flying south from the res with a fish, continueing
south out of the park.

Hi all
For our "birdscapers" or native bird habitat gardeners niche
audience ...
Aside from our established bird habitat (details at end of message) we
just signed up with USDA to convert 3.1 acres (of our 35 acres) to
"pollinator" acres. Details about program can be found here:

Hi Cobirders,
Heather Riley of Durango recently posted a question about how Rare Bird Alert
listings were determined and I think that my reply to her might be of interest
to other COBirds subscribers who are not familiar with the process and the
relationships between the various organizations.
Yesterday evening (4/12/11), I observed a Common Loon at Boyd Lake
State Park. It was foraging on the west side of the lake, very close
to shore. I also noticed a flock of ~15 White-faced Ibis fly over the
lake, headed north. There were also numerous Western Grebe and 1
Eared Grebe.

I have a question to pose to other members of COBirds? What constitutes a rare
bird, and how do they get picked up for the statewide RBA? This has been asked
of a number of us in the Durango area, and nobody seems to know the answer.

I birded a little in the Higbee area south of La Junta yesterday. I was
surprised to find a small flock of Cassin's Finch and at least 1 Lesser
Goldfinch among the hundreds of American Goldfinch feasting on the tender
buds of deciduous trees in the Purgatory River bottom area near Higbee.
