Hi all,
I am thinking that the Solitary Sandpiper on the Loveland CBC, which has
nice photos of it on ebird, would be a 1st Colorado CBC record. I will
have to see if any other Colorado CBCs have ever had one. Great find!

count doesn't have a lot of birds usually, the most common birds this year
were 267 Horned Larks, 168 House Sparrows, and 111 American Crows. It was
nice to have 9 Rough-legged Hawks and 4 Brown-capped Rosy-Finches
(sometimes there are a lot of rosy-finches around).

Very nice. I believe that Black-legged Kittiwake is a first for the Denver
CBC, a good count week bird at least (hopefully it will be around on
Saturday). Colorado rarely gets a Black-legged Kittiwake on any Colorado

Red-throated Loon - 1 breeding plumage off Sailboard
Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 adult at South Shore Marina tires
Nashville Warbler - 1 in junipers near South Shore Marina, on the dirt road
in the SE side, where you overlook the tires

, "eastern" White-breasted Nuthatch, Northern Cardinal,
and a very yellow/green small empidonax in Prowers County. Sandhill Cranes
were flying by in several locations.

Sabine's Gull, I didn't pick out any loons.
Looking forward to the Wednesday night's cold front, hopefully Thursday's
drop in temperatures and NE winds will bring a lot of interesting birds.

Arkansas River recently. Saw Mountain Chickadees and Woodhouse's
Scrub-Jays in Baca County, at Two Buttes Reservoir last Monday. It seems
like a good fall to see these Jays in some eastern plains counties, where
they aren't regular.

A few highlights from below the dam at Two Buttes Reservoir, Baca County
this morning. Western Palm Warbler, Winter Wren, juvenile Yellow-bellied
Sapsucker, 2 White-throated Sparrows, 3 Townsend's Warblers, 2 Mountain
Chickadees, a few Woodhouse's Scrub-Jays.

Here is the Christmas Bird Count information from Audubon that I received
today. Colorado CBC Compilers will need to decide if they can run their
CBC safely, the date to decide is Nov 15th or after.

Likely not too chaseable, since most aren't, there was an adult Zone-tailed
Hawk in the Wet Mountains, it was screaming and flew over me about 20
mintues ago. It was by Hwy 165, between mile marker 13 and 14. The bird
was flying from east to west.

day for seeing Pueblo birders too, as I saw six other
birders out today, between City Park and Rock Canyon. Van Truan got some
photos of the Yellow-crowned Night-Heron this morning, which will be on his
ebird checklist.
