A later exchange with Steve Loughran throws cold water on the idea of rushing
commons-net to get into the next ant release. I think he's right, and it
gives us the chance to do 1.2 right, so I have changed my mind on rolling out
1.2 now.

Let me give you a concrete example: I can't imagine that someone hasn't already
extended [Configuration] so that it reads properties from a database table (we have
options for almost everything else in the package). So, I try to search the archives
