I think your comment is not a fair assessment of Mandrake 7.0. Your
assessment is only a fractional portion of what the software offers. Have
you checked to make sure the Harddrive does not have any problems prior to
installing Mandrake 7.0. I have read this note and your previous note to
Go figure? Could it be that there is problem with Windows and your

Why is it easier for Windows? They don't follow all the rules which were
defined on networking. I mean I learned how to network with TCPIP not
Microsoft TCPIP. They are apples and oranges. Why else would Windows
market their server separate than their user software?

What security level did you use? If you chose a medium security level then
you need to allow your users (people other root) access to those devices.
I can slowly see you are very very new to linux and may not know anything
about hows groups have privileges for hardware and software.
I feel like i'm repeating myself, but there are compatability problems between
using the mdk partitioning prg and partition magic 5.0.

my first scsi cd-rom drive is listed as cd-rom_2 (on the desktop icon)
my second is a cd-rw (ide-scsi) and the link on the desktop is broken but

guess i could attribute that to the weird scsi cdrom and ide cd-rw h/w lay
Hi,
So the reason of the crash is that I have some data arriving on my comm port
and kudzu doesn't like it.
If I stop the incoming data, kudzu works fine.
A segfault is no good though... you may want to put a -s option in the kudzu
init.d script.

The problem was not Mandrake but my brand new 100mb network cards.
Solved through the purchase of netgear cards from bay networks.

If you realy want to do that go to www.freshmeat.net and search for cdfs.
Btw I had to use gcc 2.7.2.3 to compile cdfs..

is it just under rated within the hp documentation??
