Frederic,
The Makefiles for msec_find and promisc_check specify "486". As Mandrake
is targeted for 586 and above, shouldn't these be changed? Below is the patch.

The writable/writeable spelling error appears in 66 places in 26

I'll be glad to submit a patch for just diff_check.sh or all of msec, if
you'd prefer.

Has anyone at Mandrake taken a look at netmasq? It's a set of scripts and
text files for setting up accept/deny/block rules for a firewall. Version
2 used ipchains and version 3 uses iptables. All it takes is some basic
knowledge of ip addresses and services (port numbers). I've used it for
fprintf(writeable_fd, "%s\n", file);

As far as I know, msec will change permissions on files and directories
(based on the level you've chosen), but doesn't actually remove any
files. When it runs, it looks for various types of files, such as the suid
files mentionned below, and writes a list of them in

Looking in /usr/src/RPM/BUILD/msec-0.32 (from the msec-32.???.src.rpm), I

I'd suggest using the "bitwise and" operator. With this operator,
permissions will always be lessened, never increased.

Use case 3:
