I cannot get xmms to work with arts. It works fine

hit play more than once (no response of first click).
I get no error message when starting it from console

Try removing the package xmms-smpeg.
I did not have this package but I did have the libraries from earlier
version. Obviously, rpm -e did not remove everything.
After removing these stray libraries

Pardon me, but why you blame and accuse me? For all I can tell I *never*
(I repeat - *never*) use --nodeps and sometimes I use --force when I am
absolutely sure what I'm doing.
I repeat - with KDE alpha and new xmms i had problem with

No one reported segfault under Gnome and it works fine with OSS.
I do.

In the meantime you might find it worthwhile switching

presto, less CPU utilisation and you can still play

I told you that you're using an alpha version of KDE because I'm certainly
not going to spend time debugging xmms/arts to find that the arts from
kde-alpha is broken.

Howdy,
I've tried getting a response for this from other means (bugs.xmms.org (bug
73), qa.mandrakesoft.com (bug 3637)) to no avail. The response I got from
qa.mandrakesoft.com was You are using an alpha version of KDE. Sorry.
