I've just installed Mandrake 8.0 PPC on a new iBook G3 but no matter what
I do I cannot get the thing to boot into Linux. The iBook has a 20 gig
HD. The first partition has Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X on it, then theres the
1MB Bootstrap partition, then / Swap and /home. I've tried entering

Likely you are running into the same problem that I had. I am not sure
about all New World macs but Quite a few around the era of the first
iMacs have a problems with their Open Firmware that prevents them from
booting anything that is outside the 8 gig barrier.

True, but my iMac supposedly shouldn't fall in this catagory either. I
am quite sure that this is the problem. Especially if it is one of the
first G3 i books. If everything else is working and there is no
configuration error

I have a powerbook G3 Firewire and have done the following:
Mirrored the cooker tree (successful)
Ran gendistib on it (successful)
Burned a CD-RW to boot the thing (successful)
Loaded gmac.o for
