Patched this, it had a fairly obvious endian issue, once I realized it
needed to be looked at. I'm not entirly sure the colors are right, and I
get some interesting trailing affects here on moving items, but it does
run and print preview looks good.

I think your problem might be the same that I had: It was CUPS crashing
in the background while X is already starting. You can check by booting

In fact, even when X is running normally, in gdm for example after a X change, I can't
Ctl-Alt-Del. There's no del on a ibook. And it doesn't work with the backspace.
May it be the fr_ca configuration ?
