Here too: we've turned off GTK3 for eclipse on our Ubuntu desktops because it
wasn't stable enough.
Also we have servers running RHEL 6 (only has GTK 2) and people actually run
eclipse on them.
I appreciate the hard work the SWT team has put into GTK3 support. But it seems
to be too much of a
+1 for dropping GTK3 and staying on 2. I'd like to jump on to JavaFX/SWT as
soon as they fix some bugs in the web view.
Sorry I missed the earlier note on Qt as well. Something I've been thinking
about again as I start working with it more and more in the C++ space.

hi,
dropping Gtk2 means:
* swing embed is broken when the Gtk-Theme is used because it links
against Gtk2
* javafx embed is broken because it links against Gtk2
So clearly openjdk/oraclejdk (even the latest builds) links against
Gtk2, or am I wrong in this regard?
I can also prove what Andrey

Perhaps someone else "contributed"?
Yes, the main DLTK feature is there. I am talking about the DLTK Mylyn
integration which is a separate feature - still from the same 5.0 release.
So, I will go forward with this.

No, not as long as you keep us informed (as you've done, and, I'm sure,
Wayne will remind you, to have a "release record" :) ... and join
aggregation builds "early" (with a released version, or very near
released) by RC1 at the very latest,

BTW we at Advantest are still using RHEL 5.8, even because RHEL has crazy long
support times :o)
Limiting to GTK3 only and drop GTK2 ports for *new* Eclipse releases would be
good idea but AFAK GTK3 SWT port is still problematic (I'm on *latest* Ubuntu
and must turn it off).
In general I wou

Does anyone use those on Desktop? These are server distros with some
crazy support times. I have couple of VMs that use centos 6.5 to run
headless eclipse tests, but I think it'd be only fair if I had to
upgrade to centos 7 to use new eclipse versions, for example.

Hi,
I am going to bring the DLTK Mylyn feature (version 5.0) back to the SimRel
repository [1]. This is a prerequisite to add the PDT Mylyn feature in
SimRel repo too and have it also in the PHP EPP [2].
Let me know if there are any objections.
Will I break any rule if I do this for Luna SR2 too?
What major distribution still stuck with GTK2? Aren't they all on GTK3
already?
