That one is indeed supported so that's probably not the issue. Your
best bet is to run darktable from a terminal and paste the output
here. Not sure what the best way of doing that is on OSX.

1.2.2 is a very old version that used libraw for raw loading. This
probably just means your camera isn't supported. What model is it?
