My Mother always told me I was a special case;-) You understand
correctly, and I agree this goes against what many have learned, myself
included, regarding exposing to the right. The idea is to expose -1 or
-2 EV to avoid losing highlights. This approach has been much discussed

If I understand correctly what you are saying
* you are taking images with -1 EV
* you want to dial up +1EV automatically when importing into darktable
I can't help but ask... why did you dial that -1 EV in the first place if
you like the 0 EV look better ? is this to avoid over-exposure ?

Just a little note, no need to return to the lightable, you can also
