it via COBOL), groked only
BCDIC/EBCDIC and Ingres (PostgreSQL) didn't grok SQL then or for
quite a long time thereafter...
Progress is that we have two open-source choices that work well.
BTW ever wonder how suitable the ZODB would be as a mailstore G

Hello,
- here is the /etc/syslog.conf (stripped of comments):

!startslip *.*
/var/log/slip.log !ppp *.*
/var/log/ppp.log
These last 3 look a bit odd - I think they would generate an error on
my syslogd (linux).
.
It would appear that syslogd is not being used, *but*
I do not see anything in dbmail.conf that specifies either syslog or any
other method of logging.
Q: Where should I look, and/or is this a compile-time option that cannot
be changed at runtime?

The closest 'out of the tarball' complete package is Courier-mta.
I understand your opnions about SSL/TLS for pop and imap. But I am quite
shure we are evolving in that direction.
For SMTP, I do not agree
that:
- IF we were *certain* it was spam, we probably wouldn't deliver it at all.
- Probable spam seems appropriate if the luser wishes to reiew it in
case his filters are over zealous, but may be too long a name for
convenience...
- How about Suspect (INBOX.Suspect)

What version of postgresql? With 7.4 the protocol is changed but
assuming all
WHERE isIMAP=true
order by folder-number date ... or something like that.
Again, the message per se doesn't move, only the flags change.
If we have a RDBMS and don't *use* it as an RDBMS, we won't gain the
advantages of an RDBMS

filtering as a separate process before flagging the message as
'available' to the POP or IMAP client?

That is a whole lot easier to implement that the approach I just posted.
