The dbus interface to add feeds does not seem to be working. I have tried
both the epiphany extension to add feeds, and the manual method described
in the faq page on liferea's website. The epiphany extension reports:

There's no UI to turn off new mail notification in the status area. This is
strange, especially given the fact that there is one for turning sound
notification on or off.
