Thanks, Ben, I see this was committed quickly!
Is there any estimate of when 3.16.5-2 will be uploaded to sid?
Kind regards,

I don't think so. I'd be happy to submit them (w/ the other author's
acknowledgement) if you/other maintainers are OK w/ them (as you're
more experienced - I only looked at a small piece for fixing it).
Thanks!

Use the allocated uid/gid for libvirt-qemu
when creating the user/group, if not taken.
In case it's taken, the user has been asked
to continue or abort the installation, thus
if we are here, it is OK to proceed and not
use the allocated uid/gid.

Hm, but if the uid/gid is not taken, then getent output is null,
which is != 'libvirt-qemu', so the warning shows up incorrectly.
If you're OK w/ my suggestions, would you apply the guard snippet,
or would prefer a v4 of this particular patch submitted?
Thanks,

Hi Troy,
If at all possible, could you please update Debian sid to crash 8.0.3?
I'm happy to try helping prepare it, although I don't have upload rights.
Thanks,

Sending a debdiff v2, which uses a separate patch file for the (same) change.
This should be simpler to isolate/revert if/once hwmatch is available
on non-pc/i386 platforms, and also is better on documentation too,
including DEP3 Bug- headers.

g and/or debootstrap might
become out-of-date and stop working with the newer Debian stable
releases, leading to false-positives of regressions in autopkgtest in
Debian too.
