I just figured out and fixed this on my system last night. I run a fairly bleeding edge hamm - I have my own mirror and I upgrade about once a week. The new version of netbase renames rpc.portmap to portmap, but xinetd has not been made aware of this yet. The fix is to edit the file

I had used their Matrox server on my bo system, very fast and stable. However it frequently locks up my system now that I am hamm (libc6). Dunno if the two are related. For me the XSuSE_Matrox was loads faster, almost AccelX 4.1 speeds. BTW I quit using AccelX because it hoses my X.deb

LILO installation problems with SyJet disk

My system has three UW SCSI HDDs on an Adaptec 2940UW controller. In addition, I have a SyQuest SyJet on /dev/hda, and a 12X CD-ROM on /dev/hdc. When I install LILO to /dev/sda1, it detects the SyJet and tells me that it can't boot off a second HDD. However, the BIOS quite sensibly does boot
