Installing the module as you described below looks like it is going to
work. I am having a problem with matching up the correct kernel version.
I am running version 2.0.39 and the only linux box my friend has is version
2.2.1. Once I can match up versions a insmod should do the trick.

I had the same problem when I upgraded to potato with samba 2.04. There's
probably a better way to do this, but I fixed it using smbpasswd with the
username for each of my users and entered a default password. After that,
it seems to work fine.

About the 'no home' ting: it means that the system couldn't cd to the user's
homedir after assuming the identity of the user. Usually this means
that /home isn't mounted, or wasn't mounted when you added the user, but
you may have other reasons. Just make sure that the entry in /etc/passwd

One slight problem...I need to add and remove remote users a lot. Having
all mail flushed into my account and then using a .forward entry for each
user is a little clumsy.

When I add users, they get this when they login:

Password:
No directory, logging in with HOME=/
No mail.
Why is no home directory available for them and how do I get the system to
create default directories by appending the username to /home?
