I have the same problem.
This bonobo.ui seems to be the problem.
Another bug with compiz appeared also with this bonobo.ui error.
I am using the AMD64 version by the way...

Opened alacarte and then the error message appeared :alacarte crashed with
ImportError: cannot import name DockItem
I installed a bunch of updates and now ekiga maintains the account data. I
am at the moment not in the position to install gutsy on this pc.
Are you able to test if this problem occurs with ekiga in gutsy? The
gutsy release contains a new ekiga which fixes a lot of problems.

I think you may be right... I thought initially that the bugs were the
same as it seemed to be triggered by the splash screen in both cases and
I also got the IO error occured opening connection. warning in the
.xsession-error log. But I do not get the /usr/bin/gnome-session:
malloc(): memory
No, I don't think it's the same issue: The icons do not reach the border
of the splash image, and in my case the splash screen *does* disappear,
the session crashes afterwards... I actually just noticed that the crash
does not only depend on the splash image from blubuntu-session-splashes,

I think I can reproduce the bug. After using gnome-splashscreen-manager to
change my splash-screen, the gnome session crashed whenever I tried to log in.
