Does this work on a machine that is not running OS X ?
Thanks,

It is definitely possible using ApacheDS, but you have implement your
extension using ApacheDS interceptor. What you mentioned is a well
known concept called virtual directory. If you have the resources to
implement this, I would recommend that you do implement it. That would
be a great addition
I want to add to Mark's comment. By not having to reinvent the wheel,
such as writing our own ldap stack, we are able to address other
problem domain. Thank you ApacheDS Developers!

One alternative way is to use Penrose, an open source virtual
directory. We just released version 1.2 yesterday,
http://penrose.safehaus.org. Penrose uses the latest stable release of
ApacheDS and MINA.

Seelmann and PAM,
Penrose team uses an automated ant script to build the .dmg (mac) when
you run penrose build script.Let me know if you are thinking about
automating the .dmg binaries build for LDAP Studio.

I just posted Ldap Studio on my favorite Mac download sites. Please

All,
Penrose developers and contributors are well aware that Penrose
leverages Apache DS in our architecture as our LDAP listener. In fact,
it is listed in our FAQ (http://docs.safehaus.org/display/PENROSE/FAQ)
for sometime now.

Hi Kristin,
Check out http://penrose.safehaus.org. Penrose lets you "map" any
JDBC source and present it as an LDAP server.

Alex,
I don't think you can automate this process. I am using XCode and
PrefPane plug-ins template. I will have to provide binaries download,
which is PITA. If i find something better, i'll let you know
