XBean is a generic POJO based container/server/kernel which has
nothing directly to do with J2EE per se - though it should be a vital
component in the implementation of future Geronimo 2.x releases IMHO.
Consequently XBean has many use cases for folks not using J2EE such as
for Spring JBI folks
I XBean large enough to become a standalone project given that it has broader applicability outside
of Geronimo? From what I know now other projects to Geronimo that use XBean are ActiveMQ, OpenEJB
and XFire. As you indicated below Geronimo would then be one more consumer on the previous list.

I'd say so yes. Its got quite a few active committers, a reasonably
sized codebase with quite a few different modules. Sure XBean

Now that we have a new 1.2 trunk, we can go ahead migrating the build
to m2 (again).
A recap:
1. The build in the old trunk was migrated to m2. It can be found here

2. The old migration JIRA was under the JIRA G-851.
I agree with both of you. I agree with James that XBean is getting
close to needing it's own mailing list (I don't think it is there
yet, but I can see what prompted the request). I with Ken that when
XBean gets to the point of needing a separate mailing list it should

The timeout can be implemented in the client side API.

My 2 cents, If we switch over BigG as outlined in the Jan 29th email
from Dain [1] in the next few months(?)/year(?), then we should just
move XBean outside of BigG as a separate project.

I am attaching a patch for 1.2. I finally built 'modules' with M1 on

Thanks
