your patch, which seamed good so far, and then I questionned
myself. You are systematically using the scheme ${(.*)} which
means that to work it would need javascript. Are we all agreeing about that ?
I.e. OFBiz needs javascript to work ?

Currently, FreeMarker doesn't handle nested expressions very well. For example:
<#assign var1 = "this is var1"/>
<#assign var2 = "var1"/>
${${var2}}
should produce "this is var1" - but it throws an exception instead.

I just noticed that Freemarker 2.4 is not yet available
http://freemarker.sourceforge.net/freemarkerdownload.html
It's not needed for the 1st builtin replacement but we should preferably use
this version as explained in the link below.
We may wait for 2.4 to do this one...

I just noticed in a Freemarker template file something like:
${someTimestamp.toString()}
There is a problem with that. Freemarker will call the Timestamp
object's toString() method - which will output the date and time in the
server's time zone and locale, NOT the user's.

best approach would be to
follow David's suggestion and implement it as a screen + ftl template.
Now that the screen widgets can also render output in text/xml/fo I think that

A centralized way to output an address we be very nice, this would make the
output consistent in all Ofbiz, only one place to maintain and easy to
customize.
Obviously Chinese addresses are written very differently in Chinese than
English.

Hi all,
I've tried freemarker macros, and have found them to add a double punch to my work with forms. I
get clean codes: some 10 lines or so of glue and I get a complex layout done. I also get
all the power (for pretty UIs) that HTML/CSS gives.
Personally, I think it's just a
increased the
default number of digits. I no longer have a use for this but if you or anyone
else think it's useful then I can commit it.
