When I read my follow-up, I get confused. I would not be surprised if anyone
else also gets confused.
Its working, but I do not know why.

If I use the default devices of 1 and 6, it begins to receive and the transmit
goes to the sytem speaker. If I change default speaker (through windows) to the
Signalink port, then it seems to transmit. Of course then, any system sounds
are then ported to the radio.

Ok, I'll download those, and see what happens.
Had a lot of fun last evening monitoring SSTV on 20 meters. Haven't made a QSO

Hugo, Your English is good!
Did you try PSKMAIL? That may help, or perhaps Multipsk's packet

There are several active packet nodes in that part of Southern
Ontario. WNYSORC still maintains an active database.

Thank you for the reply.
I am trying 2m packet but I have an antenna and radio that will do HF
also.
After doing 2m I plan on trying some sat work in a week or two when I
finish my cheap yagi for sat work.

If you're up to building an interface, W3IWI has a really slick
interface for the -817 that negates the need for a serial port on the
computer. Be careful if you're using a surface mount timer chip, the
circuitry is going to be slightly different.

Hi Andrew I have found a rigblaster box so would this make my job easier.

Your radio should be ideal for WSPR mode. You will need t
Thanks for the clarifications! I suspected that using a DSB TX would
result in two signals, but was unsure as the PSK31 modulation scheme
itself results in a "DSB" signal. Summary: not a great idea to use a
DSB TX for Digimodes.
My question concerned whether the Finnish JUMA TRX1 could be used.

Probably not since DSB is AM. What type of DSB radio are you
attempting to use on PSK?

However one of the most cheapest forms of mode detection is your ears.
You can pretty much from the sound of it determine what it is if it's
on the amateur bands. That's because most operators stick with the
more established modes. Once you can recognise the more common ones
then you will be able t
No, I was talking about occasional flights on American and United
planes to the west coast and back. I don't own a plane, much less one
big enough to make in-cabin ultrasonic PSK communications interesting.
My guess is that there's a ham or three on each transcontinental
flight; it'd be fun to

Dave, this happened to me a few weeks ago. I was working on a setup
for something digital and disconnected my PC-to-rig cables, I still
copied PSK and could not for the live of me figure out what was going
on. Then I realized that I had received a Skype call which had
activated my PC mic-in line
It is amazing how well this works; more than once, I've gotten totally
confused as to how I was decoding PSK with cables misconnected or the
mixer misconfigured -- only to discover this audio path carrying the
freight.
I've tried a few audio PSK CQs in commercial airplane cabins, but have

Lynn,
You can use a Rigblaster of Microkey and they will work very well.
Others build there own interfaces that include isolation
transformers for less than $10.00.
I'll send you some step by step instructions later today, if I can
find them.
