I have noticed that when I have slimserver running, my network
connection steadily sends data at around 10kb/s even when nothing is
playing on my SB3 or on any softsqueezes.
The network connection icon in the system tray is constantly lit, and
viewing its properties shows a steady 10kb/s being

Yes, it's normal and by design. The squeezebox doesn't do anything
(e.g. display the when off screensaver) without being told to do so
by slimserver so there is a constant, small amount of network traffic.

Being a slim (i.e. thin) client, the Squeezebox has only the minimum
hardware necessary to get itself started, to stream music, to accept
commands to show things on the display, to receive IR remote button
presses and relay them to the slimserver.

My experiences have also been good. I had a display go bad a year ago
and got a replacement quite quickly, with instructions.
The instructions didn't match exactly my situation, so I wrote. I got
an answer in hours, with the revised version of the instructions.

it's relatively easy to handle such an enhancement.

To be honest I think you might be trying to push the box a little bit
too hard by playing FLAC files and copying files to the box at the same
time. Obviously the box is more than capable of being read and written
to by multiple users at the same time. I personally have had 6
Squeezeboxes playing

A few days ago I noticed that according to SN, my SB was not connected
to SN. This despite the fact that the SB was cheerfully playing one of
my Favorites. The solution then was to unplug the power from the SB and

The player does not say it is disconnected. SqueezeNetwork says the
player is disconnected. The player appears to be quite happy: it
continues to play the last Favorites channel I connected it to through
SN, before SN lost connection, and navigation with the remote works,
too.

Try setting the router with a Truly Stupid(TM) Password. Something
like.. well, pass.
Then set the SB2 key to that.
Remember that 'Add' on the remote is 'delete'. 'pass' is not the same
as 'Pass' and not the same as 'pass ' -- extra spaces at the end will
haunt you.

I upgraded to the 6.2.2 nightly of 16th March which upped the SB2 to
firmware 35 from 28.
This seems to have fixed the odd alarm behaviours completely.

I'm clearly doing something wrong. I have a new wireless SB3, and am
running Slimserver 6.2.1
What IS working:
The SB connects to SqueezeNetwork. I can listen to Internet Radio.
Pandora is a pleasure.
My computer can tell SN what radio channels I want to listen to, and
control volume and stuff,
All of those listed are for SB2 and the one that is a SB3 is made by a
shop in UK for $1,400 dollars US. Too expensive for me.
SB2 has the extenedable display cable. The SB3 doesn't hae it as it
is soldered onto the board.
I was looking for SB3 DIY modifications.

OK, so the SB is definitely on your network, but won't talk to
slimserver ... Two possibilities spring to mind.
(1) you've not configured the SB to use your slimserver. When you
configured the SB (setting up networks etc) do you remember being asked
about which slimserver it should be
