Updated with the latest version of Slimserver and now throughout my
library, certain songs are being repeated in the album listings (it
seems rather random and NOT related to playlists - for example, of
three CDs ripped via ITunes yesterday, none of which are in playlists -

I don't use wireless ...too unreliable. All the SB's are 100baseT and
are virtually flawless.
The problem with putting in a delay is what happens when you are
walking between rooms? How do you know which one is the "nearest" one
if you are walking about? I'm very happy with my current syncing
I still haven't figured out why my first generation slimp3 won't respond
to the remote control.
Does anyone know how I could confirm that the signals are in fact being
received by slimserver? That way I could narrow down the problem
somehow.

the batteries in the remote.

That did the trick. To summarize, build DBD::SqlLite from CPAN, rename the
one distributed with SlimServer, restar
Just installed 6.5 on FC5 x86_64. Replaced DBD::SqlLite with the one from
CPAN and got SlimServer running. Now, when I fire-up any web interface, it
dies. Any ideas?

Livingroom is an SB3 in my living room
TRF.Home is an SB3 at a friend's house
nmci-micke is a SoftSqueeze at work.
When I'm mucking about w/ playlists and various settings, I loginto
http://myservername:9000 and notice that TRF.Home is always the
selected player.

To my delight, I have found that SoftSqueeze and my SqueezeBox are now
in sync.
Two things I did:
1) Upgrade the server (to 6.2.2) and softsqueeze (to 2.3)
2) Install the Java MP3 files (Java Media Framework was needed to make
it work for me)

Can anyone point me to info on how to make SoftSqueeze the default media
player for WinXP?
In particular, my keyboard has media control buttons (play/pause, stop,
FF, volume, etc.) and I would like for them to launch and control
softsqueze instead of Windows Media Player.

Two reasons why I chose a Squeezebox 3 over the Roku 1000: the
Squeezebox includes a far better built-in DAC, and the display is much
easier to read from across the room. Plus the design of the SB3 is
aesthetically simply beautiful... oh, and it includes built-in Pandora
support.

software like WMP, Winamp or foobar2000. You can't use it to play MP3s
directly or Windows system sounds.

Slim Devices has been absolutely brilliant with the ultimate Slim client
(Squeezebox), I'm wondering how much longer until somebody turns their
attention to a truly slim SlimServer appliance. The QNAP thingy is
close, but they still sell you the storage, and don't provide an
open-source interface
I would think the main thing holding this back is market forces.
Progressive seems to be doing well with the Qnap, but it is a gamble.
I'd think it would be fun to start my own business with something like
that, but it requires a lot of startup capital and it's easier said
than done...

Interesting points, as a first stage perhaps the community could specify
the hardware for a server - chip, motherboard, hard disks, leave the
case up to the builder and prepare a LINUX distribution that would
install as a Slim SlimServer without the builder having to know a thing
about LINUX.

The one thing they all want is smart playlists a la iTunes...
It's all in the test-drive. People don't realize how great it is until
they sit there with an entire collection at their fingertips. And the
SB remote is one of Slim Devices great breakthroughs - _everyone_ knows
how to interact with a remote!

really do have a home office). Also comfortable fiddling with things.
but if there was one, I would buy a NAS product from slim devices that

So today I added some new music to iTunes and thought I'd update the
