as when I use realplayer (ie connect to localhost:9000), but that
doesn't work either, maybe in that mode the other port 3483 needed to
be tunnelled as well, but I don't know how to pass two ports to ssh on

concerned. Everything looks normal, no accented characters or

With another device I have, I found that it did not properly recognize
the ID3v1.1 track number tags, but it did recognize them in the v2
tags. (I had to delete all the v1.1 tags and replace them with v2. Just

Aha, an excellent point. Foobar2000 apparently has the ID3v2 plugin
installed, but it doesn't tell me what sort of tags I have... okay
another utility seems to thing I've got ID3v1 and APEv2 tags in place.

I found the relevant settings in fb2k, and tested a few files: it is
indeed the case that if ID3v1 is present at all, the tracknumber is
ignored. I set all my MP3s to have purely ID3v2 tags (I don't think I
need the backwards-compatibility) and re-scanned, and everything looks

no, this is when using the player like normal.
A typical usage:
Turn on slimp3, go to browse music, browse artists
navigate to artist, album, (song maybe), hit play button
Hit now playing on remote, then go back to browse music and artists and
the list will be at the top again, at 'Various
A workaround was posted in the bug, and I'm all set.

was the fact that Sonos seem to operate a quiet work environment. Here
at Slim, there's usually music or radio of some sort going somewhere in
the office at any point in time. It certainly reminds me of why we do

If nettest shows poor performance above 64k I would suspect the network
connection to the PC not the PC itself.
Look at the different network paths taken from Sqeezebox to the
internet vs to your PC. Could you try a wired ethernet connection to
the PC as a test?

This is likely a result of us moving our webserver yesterday.
There was a redirect put in place to send people that had the old DNS
to the new server. I'll postulate that the code that checks to see if
SlimServer is up to date got the redirect, and sent you to the main
page.

if users could toggle the option, i think it would make sense for the
company to have their software report back what version it is, and on
what OS its running. feedback can be very useful, inclduing for

How is your PC connected to the network? If it is wirelessly, then you
will lose bandwidth as the music has to travel from the computer to the
router and then on to the Squeezebox. If wired, it might be something
as simple as a dodgy ethernet cable. Is internet access from the PC
reliable?
Yep, PC is wired to a Linksys WAG54G - the internet connection seems
fine, although after some tests pages occasionally load slowly (blank
page for 2-4 secs, then content appears). Guess the router could be
the issue? Firmware is 2 years old, but I have had trouble locating
recent versions...
Also remember that streaming from SN is using much less bandwidth than
FLAC from your local SS.

and i would guess in so doing, thats when it calls home:

scans and imports from. Now I have some stuff ripped into Itunes and
encoded in AIFF. How do I get Slimserver to update and import from
Itunes? I checked the box use Itunes in the server settings.
