the morning. By this I mean it just hangs on the connection. This has
happened before and I remembered that it was influenced by slimserver.
If I remove slimserver(6.2.2) from the m/c with task manager the

habit of compromising quality and service to pump their stock. I'd

So, this Transporter thingy. Supposedly for audiophiles. When I bought
my SB3 I was under the impression that, if used with an external DAC,
it was capable of exceeding very high end audiophile CD players in
sound quality.

short, I set up the house for another Squeezebox connected to a stereo amp
via a long-ish (20') SPDIF cable run. I originally intended to run analog
audio between the SB3 and the amplifier but I found that I only have room
for one coax cable in the conduit -- so SPDIF it
Vinyl transfers are where I get my 24/96 audio files. Even after
downsampling to 24/48 it sounds fantastic on the squeezebox. A less
'boxed in' sound than a standard 16/44 file.

I have an Apogee Mini-DAC that I really like but the price is
approaching $1000 w/o USB and above $1000 with USB. I haven't heard
one but for the price people rave about the HeadRoom MicroDAC. FWIW,
Headroom is a great company to deal with.
Does the new Transporter have a headphone output? I regard this as a
desirable option for a DAC, but I did not see it in the images posted
online.

If it weren't for the weird audio glitches, I'd say you were
experiencing slimserver hiccups. I am running 3 SB1s with 6.3.1 without
any problems. Have you tried turning on Server Network Health to get
some timing statistics? At this point you may want to contact slim
devices support directly.
