Look for
Home -> Library -> Logs -> slimserver.log
and open that file. The last thing in there should be a log event
with some information about why the server wouldn't start up.

it. I have run into too many devices that work poorly when the beacon

Just an idea: why not get a Sonic T-amp and some decent speakers? The
T-amp will run you about $45 (including a power supply) and is tiny.
Then you can use whatever speakers you want. I have a SB3 hooked to a
T-amp powering some Onix XLS speakers ($200) and it looks and sounds

Using the Sonos remote with Slimserver would be very cool.
I read somewhere that a Sonos user would pass his remote around at
parties so that his friends could add their selections to the (Sonos)
playlist. Great idea - and obviously only works if the remote is
utterly intuitive like the Sonos.

get some kind of "reports" or catalogue out of slimserver software? I
have thousands of album on my hard drive and I want to generate a
report sorting each album by its name, or by its artist.

When I just plugged in a cable, nothing happened, as you wrote. If it
was connected to something powered I got that question, and could
disable bridging - which was enabled before.

I do think of things like that, but it's a drop in the bucket as we're
all saturated by radio waves that we can't turn

and they are excellent speakers.
The Acoustic Energy AEGO's are also impressive, especially for the
price and excellent build quality, I installed a set of the older AEGO
2's for a client and found them very capable.

I run a 1.6 GHz or so toshiba satellite laptop running linux. The screen is always closed. It's in my basement so noise is not an issue. I run an external 80GB drive in a maddog usb 2.0 case. They share an apc 350 ups.

to my pc (xp). Whilst the drive shows up in the bios, device manager and
computer management, there is no sign of it in windows explorer.
