I also have a p4 1.5 + 1GB RAM running Ubuntu server 7.04.
I think I'll use this to run SlimServer on then and keep the Mac for
other chores.
I have a new MacBook pro, so the old G4 sits idle a lot of the time.

My favorite radio stations are saved in the SB only and not on the
server (i.e. they were saved off of Squeeze Network). I do not see how
the MyPicks plugin can import data from SB.

BTW - for the LoveSexy album, I ripped the entire album to WAV, then
loaded it into Goldwave or Audacity and cut it into chunks with a
regular fadein/out for each track.
I then saved and compressed to MP3. Took me about 1 hour.
I know it's not how the original album was released, but so what.
Nothing is saved in the SB - your favorites are saved on
Squeezenetwork.

Yes, but to me it seems obvious that it is indeed not the purpose of
the slimserver. It's by design tied to the squeezebox. I don't think

I have a very similar setup to you using a Via MoBo and it consumes
just 25W (measured from a plug-in Watt-Meter).
My machine is a Via EN 1.5GHz with 1GB of RAM and 1 SATA HDD. The
machine does more than just run Slimserver (which it does pretty well).
It also runs Exchange 2003, SQL
Thanks guys. I was hoping it would play DVD files already on my HDD, so
I wouldn't have to rip them. It'd be nice if the SB had a video output
too, but I'm just dreaming.

Have you physically looked at the tags in a program like mp3tag. I had
a similar problem as yours a year or so agoit was in the tags.
Especially with downloaded music. For me, I use one tag version and
delete all others.

I've checked the gateway DNS IP addresses in the SB3 - they are
correct. I'm getting RSS feeds so the connectivity must be there for
that musn't it?
