Anyone know of a decent de duping facility for libabries - I've used
some but they are not very clever - I'd like to be able to preserve
albums if possible and also to preserve the best quality

ok, here is my next effect:
i have a few albums which were ripped half in MP3 and half in Vorbis.
(this was done because some songs were supposed to play on an iPod).
these albums show
Try EF Duplicate MP3 Finder - works with all sorts of files including
FLAC. Great little bit of software!

But they're still different files in different formats. That's expected
behaviour.
You can turn off one of the formats in Server Settings/File Formats. They will
then be ignored.

buy a chiquita banana and place their sticker onto the logitech logo...
this will be the perfect way to restore your pc peripheral thing back
to a squeezebox!

Mine started this behaviour recently - yesterday it was really bad so I
forced a firmware update. It was fine after that but too soon to be sure
it was the fix.

These streams cannot be played by the native SB3 decoder. The OGG is
http streamed and the MMS URL does not support http.
To play these streams - goto server settings and uncheck OGG Vorbis
(built-in) and Windows media (Built-in). Decoding will now be done
on PC and streams will play.

hmmm... i am not sure i like that. if i turn one format off, doesnt
that mean i wont see the songs at all anymore? that is not really an
option, since the tracks are not actually duplicate.
example:
Album A, tracks 1-4 - MP3
Album A, tracks 5-9 - vorbis

especially if it had to start swapping virtual memory to- and from
disk, i could sometimes wait for 20-30 sec.(!) for it to respond to the

selection besides the first track. I could fwd to track 4 and hit
play, but squeezebox plays the first track each time. Is there a
setting or something I need to adjust?

since today I'm owner of an brand new SB3. It's a logitech branded one

It should replace my old SB 1, witch ist still operating well in our

I've been trying to work out why my SqueezeBox 3 stutters at times
seemingly with poor wireless speed at times. The answer? GMAIL! Yep!

Run the 5000kbps network test. I get 100%. eg:-

20 :0 : 0%
It seems to work with a 555.
I did not find the time to play with my new remote and the SB but I
had in mind such direct access to functions.

Well, no, strictly any application will slow your system down. Windows,
IME, sucks at trying to be a server for SlimServer and
Windows can work fine IF your processor speed and ram is sufficient. I
have two squeezeboxes running right now and I am surfing the net and
doing email. No stutters.
The lower the processor speed and the less ram you have the more likely
it is to tax the system.

it on, popped the disc into my iMac and hey presto! Nothing! The quick
install tab remains stubbornly grayed out, what am I doing wrong? As

Is slimserver open in a window in Firefox when you access gmail? If so
, how about if you close the slimserver window(not slimserver just the
window) and access gmail? Same problem?

Generally my slimserver and Squeezebox are working perfectly. However I
have noticed that some of the albums on my hard drive have not been
scanned into slimserver. All 700 of my albums are in the exactly the
same location, so I am confused why this should be the case.
Any suggestions?

Try the following.
Press AND HOLD the Power button until the menu comes up. It will
probably say set up networking. DON'T go through that procedure, but
press Up, and then press Right.

Comparing the capture when on bbc.co.uk (no problems) with
bbc.co.uk/cbeebies (problems) there are some red lines in the capture
with the later.
I suspect these are showing the problem happening as there seems to be
a clear delay shown?
See images attached!
First try to get a feel of what is happening such as
1. Give a colour to the packeto/from GMAIL
2. Look at the GMAIL traffic - are the packets very big or very often
compared to other traffic.
3. Have a look at selected GMAIL packets - use top panel to select a
packet and look in bottom panel
AFAICT The only traffic on those screen are to/from SB3 - you can tell
by the port number 3483 is either source or destination.
The dark lines are retransmission - it's not clear why
Where is the GMAIL traffic ?

You need to give us some more information.
-Operating system
-File types
Does slimserver have read permission to those files?
Can you find the albums using the search function?
Do the affected albums have something in common (compilations, file
type,...)?
Did you do a clear and rescan?
Are those
SlimServer doesn't know a thing about J River's proprietary database
formats (JMD files), but here is what you can do...
In JRMC, right click the playlist and choose Export Playlist. A
dialog box will pop up where you can give it a file name and choose
other options. For where to save it, choose
