I created a new music directory, but I cant get rid of the old one. I
scanned the new one, but the Squeezebox and Squeeze Center still show
the old information. I have changed the name of the old directory,
rebooted, downloaded 7, enabled file sharing on the new directory and
rescanned numerous
Another vote for mp3tag. It does a fantastic job cleaning up tags,
renaming files and even folders. After ripping and tagging over a
period of a few years I spent some time over the weekend consolidating
and editing for consistency etc. mp3tag made it a breeze to:

Hi guys. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Lets say I browse to folder X and in there are songs a, b and c.
When I hit play on song "a" and then skip to the next song, it shows
the title for song "b" for 1 second and then goes back to showing the
name for song "a" even though its playing song "b"
I think there's a bug here, the title format should be visible for
stream.mp3 clients.

It seems to be very easy to set up stand-alone. The "fiddle" comes in
when you want it to work with squeezeserver and have both running as
services. Not -too- bad if you follow the directions at spicefly.

After installing the latest version of Mcafee Security Center software
on my Windows XP desktop I have been unable to get SqeezeCenter to

via Amazon.com. I'll be in NY in two weeks time so I'll be bringing it
back myself. Beats the crap out of 1) waiting and 2) being ripped off
(AUD is almost at parity with the USD).

I can't really help with the diagnosis, but I just wanted to say that
I've seen this behaviour too. It's only happened once, a few days ago,
and the only way that I found to fix it was by restarting
SqueezeCenter.

power off an SB3, less than a minute later, it turns itself back on and

Wouldn't it be better to at least configure it so users have to
register and login before they edit a page ?
I'm guessing that this would get rid of some spamming besides the
advantage that you would always see who has edited a page.

I would also recommend looking at MusicIP which is supported within
Squeezecenter. It's not random, but produces some great playlists and
is easy to configure different types of mixes (once you have it set up)
- Jagged Mix might work well for you.

I think Bob means MusicIP which is supported by Squeezecenter.
It can be downloaded from http://www.musicip.com. Can be a bit of a
fiddle to set up, ande takes a while to analyse your music, (although I
have never had an issue with set up, others have), but it is brilliant.

I have few basic questions about use of mySQL database
1, What is the use of mySQL database in slimserver?
2, If I do not use search and browse only by folder, do I still need
this database?
3. Is there a ways to reduce the size of this database?

When I open the SC7 web gui, I sometimes get a message about
"downloading picture" as per the attached screenshot, that stays there
until I change screen. I presume it's struggling with a .png file, but
how do I find out more, ie is it one of my jpegs that's causing it, is

Very little: sitting in the tray and tell you whether SC is running or not.
Plus it provides a link to http://localhost:9000... For those who are running
SC as an app instead of a service, it allows starting/stopping the app. Nothing
vital.

The topic has come up several times before - but despite various efforts,
there's no such thing as a lite version.
You don't need SlimTray, though. Just remove it form the startup group to save
a few MBs
About the only way to reduce memory usage is to disable plugins you
don't need.
