a dumb question for sure, but are you positive you only have one copy of any of these songs? also, is it somehow possible that your SC is for some reason listing all your tags? meaning APE, id3v1 and id3v2? is it possible the scanner is reading playlists in the sub folders of the music library?

Look at a few of the duplicates in the actual Squeezebox display and see exactly the url of the file. That has helped me understand some dups I've had in the past. Old playlist, shortcuts and other things can cause duplicates I've found along with odd tags. Just something to check. -- Nonrea

What version of SC are you using? I believe that ServerSwitcher has not been updated fro SC7 and is Linux only. You may want to try SC 7.1. It has a feature (which I haven't tried) which discovers other SC instances on your network and allows you to switch players between them. -- Fletch ---

The squeezebox grabs a DHCP IP address - usually 172.16.16.105 or 106.. (it's dhcp - so it gets something in the 172.16.16.100+ range every time; no matter if it's wired or wireless..) There is only one router/wifi - which is the linksys wrt54g. -mark -- diomark --

Anything unusual in the Linksys configuration? If it's not a lot of trouble to reconfigure it (you'd probably have to re-enable wifi and need to enter the wifi password again) I'd be partial to doing a factory reset of the router and using as close to a default configuration as possible. Usually

It's running a custom firmware (sveasoft talisman) - but is running it as default as possible. (it's needed because of pptp vpn..) My guess is that the way the squeezebox tries to 'discover' the server is confusing it.. does anyone know more about how it finds the slimserver? -m -- diomark

I use a Nokia N95 8GB on my wifi network with the handheld skin. Great for performing the basics, so long as you're not in a mad hurry. And you get a phone! Oh, and 8GB of space to put tunes on for when you're out and about. -- hunta
