Like others I also find media monkey really easy to use and have set up
a folder as a sync dest instead of transcoding on the fly. eac to flac,
media monkey to tag & replay gain, then sync to flac2mp3 folder for
syncing with multiple ipods.

Sorry, not arguing - just felt your original statement was pretty off

I think I'd need proper step by step instructions to do that!!

I have a frustrating issue with Squeezebox. When connected to a PC, if
the PC is shut down or if someone stops squeeze centre, then the

There are indeed a few items which are localized in the Controller's
firmware. These are similar files found here:

So the latest update, not good news... It seems that the SB3 also does
a bit of stuttering when playing FLACs which leads me to believe it's a

I'm thinking of ordering some Homeplugs to set up a wired link to my

There did not however seem to be a final answer on how thesse high bit

The scanner is pretty flaky.
A couple of days ago I edited the genre tag on 50-60 albums and after
two manual and two scheduled "look for new and changed music" scans,
the tag change is still not picked up.
I guess a "clear library" is needed and that's fine with me but it's

Reference Recording is now offering 24/176 wav files on a DVD. I know
that the Transporter specs state that it can handle up to 24/96 file
formats.
Does anyone have any experience with using the Transporter with 24/176
or 24/192 files? Would it be necessary to downsample the files to
24/88 or 2
If I add new music, it often doesn't appear in the New Music browser but
I can find it by manually searching.
Appears to be the same on rescan or full clear & scan.
I've always found this a bit flaky so any ideas please?
Also, where is the New Music list stored as I'd like to edit it if
possible?

There's a simple solution to this - APPLE LOSSLESS - ALAC - Apple
Lossless is the same as FLAC (sound quality wise) and is usable by BOTH
SlimServer/SqueezeCentre and the iPod.
Almost too perfect a solution, right?

Why encode to WMA and not MP3 ?

There is a discussion on 'New Music Folder' here ->

The little application by Craig mentioned in this thread is excellent
at 'fixing' the file dates of music so that the 'new' stuff actually
appears in the 'new music' folder.

SlimPronto asks SqueezeCenter what players it knows about and then pulls

Try a firmware update (via SD card if necessary), failing which return
it for a refund. Seems there are many of us experiencing significant

It's best you contact technical support -- they are better placed to

Based on another thread, I took one of my original 88.2kHz/24bit files
and put it in my Music folder. It was an AIFF but played at 1/2 speed,
i.e. 44.1kHz. The Transporter is running on internal clock, so it
SHOULD work.
Just to make sure it wasn't an issue with the AIFF file, I converted it
to
For 88.2k support you need SC 7.1 with firmware 43.
