Sonos makes some great stuff be remember the squeezebox open
architecture is what makes it so great. If you don't like it you can
change it!
That being said Sonos supports the full UPnP spec so you can control it
with UPnP commands. I just added the open source Sonosweb interface to
VortexBox so
I think the SB3 is the best choice even if the buyer intends to use
something other than the IR remote to control it. The VFD display is
really nice, and our Squeezeboxes serve as ultra-accurate clocks when
not playing music.

In my case, I dug down enough to get to Lane County, Oregon,

bottom of the page. There is a 'listen' icon that points to the asx for
the stream which should work on the SB. (Can't tell at the moment since
I'm at work.)

I found this site which has hundreds of police dept and fire and rescue
scanner radio streams, but it uses a Flash player for playback. Is
there a way to find out the URL of the individual feeds so I could add
them to Squeezecenter as a playlist?

Yeah there's a bug to fix it for SN. It was not implemented with SN in
mind originally so it's some amount of work to fix it.

Great to hear your success. I was really perplexed when I got my
Trnasporter because I was expecting it to be a pain to setup after
reading reviews everywhere. I already had SC running on a media server
and had the TP running in all of 3 minutes. I think the majority of
complaints come from people
I always use the touch one handed but i do have huge hands, always in
(XXL ski Gloves)
There was a great review on engadget for the cr200 controller and
raised some good points.

people have almways custmized and made plugins for Squeecenter and
