Another vote for MusicIP to be included in Vortexbox. Also, if you don't
already have a live CD I think it would be good to make one available.

I've been using iPeng for a while but Squeemote looks good as well.
Squeezecenter itself is starting to look like a weak link in the chain
now. The responsiveness and ease of use of iPeng (and even more so from
Squeemote) makes Squeezecenter's interface look a poor relation.

Another quick update.
Upside:
The Sonos equipment is really easy to setup and does just work. I
haven't had any major issues, and others in my household (wife, kids)
seem to be able to use everything easily. This was my main goals (high
wife acceptance factor rating).
Downsides:

Currently, my version of SqueezeCenter (7.3.3) organizes my Playlists
and my Music Folder alphabetically, which is great. But when you want
to choose a particular Playlist or Artist from the Music Folder, the
heading at the top of each page (the Master Listing for lack of a
better title) lists
I agree with you aboutwhy-pay, but I don't currently know of a free
solution.
Nicecast is perhaps intended as a broadcast solution (so something that
can be reached on other computers).
But basically it takes sound from any chosen program and converts it to
a broadcast stream.

Yeap, Moose is still around. I use Moose on a HP TouchSmart Tx2
Notebook. I fold the TX2 screen into tablet(landscape) mode then I go to
Moose Tools-View Mode and select Touch Screen. It works great, but is

Has anyone really noticed speed issues with the Touch 2G? I can't say I
have gobs of experience, but on the few occasions I've used IPeng on my
daughter's IPod it seemed just as fast as using the IR remote. Speed is
more dependent on SC than the remote, or so it seems to me.

For me, the syncing/rebuffeing issues that were bedeviling me for awhile
disappeared once I eliminated a few of the wireless/homplug jumps in my
network. Now, the tinkering I do is for fun, not just to get the darn
thing to work.
I would really miss the tinkering aspect of Squeeze, but I
Moose and Squeezeplay are two options. But personally, I think the web
UI is great (appearance wise).
