Well um no!
Those messages do not relate to the plugin actually doing anything with
iTunes,
but they shouldn't be there either, looks like something is wrong.
This is with the latest version of the plugin?
Can you start SlimServer with the --d_plugins option and send (me) the
output?
James
Last time I used dbpowerAMP it did look up the CD data!
Is it not working?

On Wed,
I noticed some weird display corruption on my SqueezeboxG over the
weekend:
From time to time the display would 'roll' up and down, like a TV that
had lost vertical sync.
Does anyone know what causes this?
I've recently moved all my hi-fi/squeezebox/router components and ramped
up the scrolling
Where are you, 'orb'?
You mentioned amazon.co.uk VAT so I guess people assumed you were in
the UK?
If you're in the EU, buying from any EU based reseller should avoid
taxes.

Toby,
Firstly there is no 'played count' in SlimServer (or if there is one in
the database it's not implemented that I know of?).
Secondly, you can get the played count in iTunes to be updated by
SlimServer by using my iTunes Update plugin:

I have my amplifier, dvd player, vcr cable box hidden in a cabinet.
The Squeezebox is the only thing outside (apart from the TV).
So I think a small case works pretty well...
(although that little battery powered amp linked to recently looked very
cool!)

I think Tore means that the web browser cannot connect or display
http://yourserver:9000/log.txt once SlimServer has crashed.
I'd suggest running from the command line (after stopping the service) :
Slim.exe --logfile filename

Setting it to 0 doesn't disable the scan in case anyone was wondering.
What's the --noscan parameter supposed to do ?
It certainly doesn't stop the initial scan.

I am starting to share the same position as Steven,
my iTunes rescan takes about 90 seconds during which all players stop
(no music, no menus).
What does setting the interval to 0 do - could we have this as disabling
rescans if it doesn't already do so?

I have WEP enabled, I believe WPA is not supported for SB1

You can't use 'shared-key' encryption either - this got me for a while.
Other than that it was painless.
I only use 64 bit encryption (lazyness).

Nope, XP SP1.
Vidur's last change has helped immensely but playback is still stopping
occasionally.

Simon,
I have similar problems.
It seems SlimServer is picking up all tracks after a rescan, but once it

the database.

If you're using iTunes, I wrote a plugin to take a track-at-a-time feed

I find that I use this a lot as it's easier quicker than working with

Hi Michel,
That is interesting,
I could never get it to work as a service and notes in the Moodlogic

Did you change the service settings at all?
What version of Windows are you running?
As to Manuel's original question I have a shortcut to slim.exe
Danny,
most likelyyou have the 5.4 version cached and this
is being loaded despite the splash screen version.
Check the version under Softsqueeze settings to

Clear the browser cache to get the correct version. Or run

Ah I see, Manuel was asking about the iTunes Update plugin, which is
not the same as the iTunes plugin.
iTunes plugin reads from iTunes, iTunes Update writes to iTunes.

Of course there is an updated version of the plugin available which
would also fix this.

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned this yet.
If you're happy to pay for your iTunes Music Store song downloads, but
could live without that pesky DRM stuff the recording companies insist
Apple inserts into each file, you'll be pleased to know that notorious
hacker Jon Lech Johansen, he of DVD
with your wallet. I don't buy DRM music and I won't use iTunes.
That's how I think different. I just bought two CDs at Tower
Records. I'd rather give them my business.

Someone should raise an enhancement

Otherwise one could write some sort of parser that isolates
the playlist section of the iTunes XML and point Slim at
this?

KDF,
I raised a bug for this yesterday because the iTunes scan is far from
improved.
http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1093
My experience is that it's 60% slower on the initial scan and 420%
slower on rescans.
Sorry!

Aynsley,
I think that dbPowerAmp could do that. There is a converter type plugin
for it.
I used it to convert all my .ogg files to .mp3 when I realised how
limiting ogg files are.
