They had one other item - believe it's the regular Squeezebox (?), and
it is also on sale, but nothing extra-extra-special.

I would love to have the ability to play shn files for a bit longer

Has anyone got SlimServer 6.2.2 working on their (ppc Hdlan) LinkStation working?
If you, what do you do about the .exe's in the Linux 386i directories under Bin?
Thanks

SqueezeBox's IR receiver. However, I think you're made it clear that the headphone port can only be used as an IR output, and not an input.

I've red that the headphone port can be used to send IR commands. Can it be used to receive IR commands?

I like my Harmony 880 remote, but I disagree that it in any way solves problems with devices which don't have discrete on/off codes. It keeps track, but in my experience, often ends up "out-of-sync" with the devices which don't have discrete codes.

It just depends on the components you own. All of mine except the Comcast cable box have discrete on/off codes even though only one has discrete buttons on their remotes.

Alternately, you can just point Foobar to the lame.exe file on your machine in the encoder configuration dialog.

squeezebox being able to access the slim network, anyone got any

I use foobar2000 for that purpose and like it alot. Configuring it

While I will agree that 10Base-T provides adequate bandwidth, I'll
maintain my disagreement that 802.11b also provides sufficient
