"44.1/16").
So when you rip a CD it will create files on your PC at that resolution
unless you tell the ripping to do something different - which 99.9% of
the time you would NOT want to do!

all just worked...
Bottom line: I can now download 24/96 files and SC will play them
seamlessly and in high quality as 24/48 using server-side resampling.

I can't get this to work. I downloaded a 24/96 album. Set bitrate
limiting to 320 to force flac-MP3 via lame...
file seems to play according to the SB3 display, but whatever is coming
out of the spdif coax isn't driving my DAC!

Most DACS use fet muting (or none at all..)
The SB doesn't mute the digital signal between tracks and my DAC stays
locked and unmuted at all times unless I disconnect the SB from it.
I suspect that this is an issue with the design of your DAC. Does it
have an LED that indicates that the DAC
, amps and cabling.
Before you add an external DAC, try a replacement linear power supply
on the SB. These do not cost much and believe the consensus is that
the internal DAC in the SB seems to benefit.

XP) it was a bizarre IP/Mac address conflict. You might want to check
that the MAC address of your slim device (as shown in the settings on
th eplayer itself) do indeed correspond to the label on the bottom -
and also that you don't have an IP conflict. If

I don't think that CP is on by default - it certainly wasn't on my
MP11.
Under the "Now Playing" tab, use the arrow to get to "more options" and

as an experiment, try changing the album name TAGS so the flac and mp3

I'm struggling to imagine any scenario where you would need a digital
out on this product. It is a self-contained unit as far as one can
tell.

Delete the entire cache folder (wherever it is on your system) and
rescan.
It's NOT the artwork cache but the database you need to clear to fix
this. No it's NOT a guess.

Sounds like you need to blow away the server side cache in C:\Documents
and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SqueezeCenter\Cache
and then do a full rescan...

As I see it you have two choices:
1) stream using lossy compression and keep everything wireless
or
2) wire SB3 to Router
Having everything wireless AND streaming uncompressed is too much for
current wireless technology IMHO.

erm... 11dB (which is a lot: +3dB = twice the "volume" - or more
accurately twice the power or energy required)

how are you connected to the Internet? Have you got a router or a USB
modem?
What operating system are you using?
Do you have other machines or just the laptop?

then type ipconfig/all and report back what it sas on the screen
