The Duet can't directly access an external hard drive - it has to connect to a computer running the Squeezebox Server software. The Squeezebox Touch can do what you describe. It can play files directly off most external USB hard drives. -- coo

I'm not sure I see the need for this format. Disk space on a PC isn't a consideration, but disk space on portable devices still is. I'd have both a flac and an mp3 on my PC than waste space by using this on portable devices.

erver is in some proximity to your SBR. In your case aiken, why not match the SBR with the powered speakers, and the SB3 with the A/V receiver? Otherwise, it's probably simplest to just get another SB3 and sell the SBR if you don't need another player.
